CGCA Qualification Criteria

The Certified Golf Coach designation is an advanced certification for established golf professionals with prior experience in the golf industry. The curriculum is designed for trained golf professionals who have prior teaching experience, knowledge of swing technique, and the desire and ability to educate and learn from other Certified Golf Coaches. Applicants for certification must demonstrate the following prerequisites:

  • PGA / LPGA / Other Golf Industry Membership or Collegiate Golf Coach (or the equivalent)
  • A minimum of 5 years of golf teaching / coaching experience
  • An established golf teaching / coaching position (i.e., existing students, golf team)
  • A demonstrated interest in and commitment to professional development and continuous learning

Certification is granted once applicants:

  1. Meet Qualification Pre-Requisites
  2. Complete 3 day Certified Golf Coaches Training
  3. Execute the CGCA principles
    1. Pass on-line examination
    2. Demonstrate on-the-job application
    3. Maintain professional development and education (6 webinars / yr.)
    4. Submit annual membership fee
